In chunk 3 of "Full Frontal Feminism" by Jessica Valenti, Valenti juxtaposes the thought that society feels toward women in the workplace, marriage, and relationships. She illustrates many different emotional appeals when it comes to women an the profession that we always get labeled into doing. For instance, teaching, she drew a comparison, that if all men were teachers, maybe teachers would get paid more. Valenti draws attention to the small issues, such as women in the workplace period. The government feels that men should be the breadwinners, while women depend on them. The Government makes it harder for women to get out of poverty when they create a significant pay gap between men and women. they feed women with distractions so that we don't focus on these types of discrimination. Jessica Valenti also talks about "Goldiggers", like landing a man is a woman's main goal in life. But with all dating shows and magazines, it has been shown that all women want want in a man is the gifts, dates, and the ring,big expensive ring. Young women are being taught that you can measure love in dollars. Jessica Valenti does not want us to think that way, she wants women and young women to do what feels right and not what everyone tells you is right.

QUESTION 1:I think that most women don't know that they in fact are paid less than the men they work with.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2:I think that society just isnt fully ready to deal with the fact that women can be more than house wifes. Society has come far from the age of the house wife but it is not as ready to completly let go to the age either
Answer 1: I think that, out of those whom are well aware of the fact, many of the women simply find themselves to busy with their daily lives and struggles to attempt to change this. Another idea is that a lot of women have subconciously accepted the idea that they can't make much of a difference.
ReplyDeleteAnswer 2: Since most of the people in power are the men that benefit from traditional view the most, and are the older people who were raised according to these ideas, the outdated viewpoints continue to survive. But even if one doesn't believe in such a thing, influences from society will cause one to subconsiously pass down a smaller portion to the next generation. It's not something that will go away overnight.
answer to question 1:i believe women bypass the fact because if you cant earn the money at work all you have to do is go to the male and ask for it and knowing him and being a male my self you are going to get it because we men hate to see our women mad at us.
ReplyDeleteanswer to question 2:society only accepts what they change and they cant stand the fact that the female community is changing by themselves and there is nothing that socity can do to cange it so eventualy cause we cant ignore it we will have to accept the fact that we can not mold a person life into what we want them to be especially women cause they have the same rights and choices that men have and if they chose not to be a house wife then let them be what they wnat to be
