Not going out as much? The Economy is just too bad to enjoy life? Restaurants all around are trying to stay in business by creating money schemes that will keep costumers coming in. One restaurant in Particular is Denny's. In Sean Gregory"s article, he examines the many different ways Denny"s is trying to keep up in this recession and peoples contrasting views about it. In the past year The famous Dennys restaurant sales went down, showing that they were struggling in this recession and business was not going well. In result of this on February third they made a world wide advertisement at the superbowl, stating that they were going to be giving out FREE grand slams to anyone who walked in the door from 6 a.m. to 2p.m. . It was a successful task appealing to the emotions and logic. They needed to create something to make Denny's spark again even, if it ws a big risk and even though the meals were free, they still made a profit, because costumers wanted a nice beverage to go with that grand slam. they had so many costumers, the bought beverages wss enough to pay the superbowl for te advertisement. Dennys succes was a success for other resturaunts as well, such as CiCi's Pizza, who also came up with Buy one-get one free deals. However, opposing views says that this will haunt these resturaunts in the long run. Saying that its actually cheapening the brand and its worth. Others just say the "economy sucks' and they rather just stay at home, but hey you cant win them all.
